the company may be good for people looking for any particular service, but for the ones providing a service, Home Advisor is a complete scam!! As a service provider, Home Advisor employees will call you, tell you a few things about the company and the service they provide for the service provides. One thing they will do is direct "leads" (customers) to everyone that can provide a service they are looking for; i.e. A person looking for a housekeeper may get paired to 10-15 maybe more, housekeepers in their area. Every housekeeper will get a notification that someone need a housekeeper near their location. 5-9 of the housekeepers jump on that lead and the person choose you. That lead could cost THE HOUSEKEEPER $15-45....the catch is, the price for that lead comes out of the housekeepers pocket, whether they won the bid or no...no matter what!!! So From ONE lead, Home Advisor is raking in at the minimum, $150 maybe even more, for one person to have a list of housekeepers...only ONE housekeeper is getting the actual job...while the rest are left without the contract and still paying for leads that they didnt win. This should be against the law and something should be done. about it.
