Received an unsolicited text message from this number, with the standard scam (or collections agency) format of beginning with a company name and a colon, and then the message:
“Sunpass: Our records indicate that you have an unpaid toll trip.
Please make an online payment at https://invoicesunpasstoll[removed by editor] to avoid excessive late fees.

During Covid it was difficult to pay tolls in person. But the website name is ludicrous (if nothing else, it should be the a standard sunpasstoll[removed by editor]/invoice, no company would give their payment page a whole new domain), the description of “excessive” is intentionally frightening and designed to make people go and sign up for the site without checking first to make sure it is legit (giving away personal identifiers and info to prove they don’t owe anything), plus NO company would admit their fines are excessive, and the timing is designed so that at you receive it after work and during or right after dinner (7pm Central Time) — and generally there is no reason provided in the message for me to believe that this message isn’t spam, a scam, or phishing. Google also provided no evidence to verify the authenticity of this vague claim. No proof available that this is a real notification. If nothing else, they just want to know if there is a live human at this number so they can start targeting me with more and more scams. More likely, they want my banking info and/or personal/car info to rob me or take my identity
