Online scams are the most reported type of crime. Most countries now state that between 20 to 30% of all crimes reported are related to online fraud. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as only 3% to 7% of all scam victims report the crime to law enforcement. With nearly $ 50 billion lost last year and an expected growth of 40%, new ways have to be found to turn this tide.
On the 3rd and 4th of November 2021, the 2nd Global Online Scam Summit (GOSS) was held. The goal of the GOSS is to help governments, consumer authorities, law enforcement, brand protection agencies, and (cybersecurity) companies share knowledge and insights on fighting online scams and fraud more effectively and efficiently. More than 1,000 people registered for the event.
