Stocktee.com is a website that claims to sell sports and pet-themed clothing. It has consistently been among the most-searched websites on Scamadviser. Therefore, we have done an in-depth review for the benefit of our users.

Stocktee is just over a year old and there is no data available about who is actually running the website. It has an Alexa rank of more than 2 million, which means it is not very popular. However, we have observed that there have been many searches for it on Scamadviser.com recently, which suggests they may be running advertising campaigns on social media platforms.

Stocktee’s website is not impressive and seems to be built using a basic template. The products being sold are sports-themed and pet-themed clothing. The images don’t seem to be copied from other websites and I was not able to do a price comparison of the items. However, they are using several copyrighted logos, images and names with no evidence that they have been officially licensed. There is a copyright disclaimer on the website, but it seems to be fake as it carries a date of 2015 even though the website has only been active since 2019.

The website contains a section called ‘Happy customers’ which carries customer reviews. However, these reviews seem to be fake as the same reviews were also found on another website.

Though the products look like they are original, there is evidence that the rest of the content on the website is copied from other online stores. The About Us section of the website has the following text:

“Stocktee is an exclusive store for the world’s best animal themed apparels such as lion, donkey, mouse and so on.“

Firstly, this text makes no sense because there are no products relating to lions, donkeys and mice on the website. Secondly, it was found that there are 298 online stores using the same text, including websites and Facebook pages. The full list is given at the end of the article. 54 out of the 274 websites in this list are using shared IP addresses. This shows that many websites similar to Stocktee might be involved in intentionally defrauding online shoppers.

While testing the checkout process, I found that the Paypal account being used to collect payments is under the name of Ta Mai Anh. This seems to be a common Vietnamese name, suggesting that Stocktee is run from Vietnam.

Scamadviser Verification

The Scamadviser page of Stocktee has not been claimed by the company.

There are no social media profiles on StockTee mention on the website. However, we did find a Facebook page created in February 2020. The page information revealed that it has 6 page admins located in Vietnam. Suspiciously, the page was shown to be claimed by a company named ‘Alaskan Clean Seas’ based in Alaska. Coupled with the fact that a Vietnamese account seems to be used for Paypal, there is some reason to believe that Stocktee is a Vietnamese company trying to pass itself off as American.

The contact details provided include a phone number, an email ID and an address. The address provided seems to be fake as it is of a residential area in Vermont. Meanwhile, the phone number carries the area code of Oakland, California and shows up as ‘Shushantak’ in TrueCaller. It should also be noted that the phone number is a VoIP number, which means it can be operated from anywhere in the world. The email ID was found to be working when tested. Therefore, the only way to contact Stocktee is via email, with the address and phone number being fake.

User Reviews

Despite being over a year old, there are few reviews available for Stocktee. The reason for this could be a pause in operations due to the global pandemic. The reviews that are available are largely negative. Stocktee has a below-average rating of 2.3 out of 5 based on 14 reviews. The reviewers have alleged that they never received any updates from Stocktee after placing their orders. One reviewer has also stated that they received a fake tracking number. There is also another Vietnamese name mentioned as being associated with Stocktee’s PayPal account, giving credibility to the assertion that it is based in Vietnam. You can read the reviews here.

Conclusion

There is an extremely high likelihood that Stocktee is a scam.

Stocktee has a Trust Score of 1% on Scamadviser, which means it is extremely risky to shop on this website. You can read more about Stocktee’s Trust Score here.

The entire content of the website has been copied and is being used by at least 298 other online stores. Many of these websites seem to be part of a network of scams, which reflects badly on Stocktee. The website is selling items that possibly violate copyright laws. Though the website does contain a copyright disclaimer, it seems to be fake as it is dated 4 years before the website was created.

Though Stocktee tries to give the impression that it is an American company, there is some reason to believe that it is actually a Vietnamese website. The Facebook page (now deleted) was being run from Vietnam and the PayPal accounts used by the website carry Vietnamese names. The Facebook page was also claimed by a company named ‘Alaskan Clean Seas’, which does not seem to have any relation to Stocktee. The address provided on Stocktee’s website seems to be fake and the phone number is a VoIP number that can be used from anywhere in the world. Though the email ID is real, several angry reviewers have alleged that Stocktee did not respond to their emails and also provides fake tracking numbers. The website itself contains some reviews, but these seem to be fake as the same reviews were found on another website.

It is advisable to avoid shopping on Stocktee, as there are high chances of having a bad shopping experience.

As the influence of the internet rises, so does the prevalence of online scams. There are fraudsters making all kinds of claims to trap victims online - from fake investment opportunities to online stores - and the internet allows them to operate from any part of the world with anonymity. The ability to spot online scams is an important skill to have as the virtual world is increasingly becoming a part of every facet of our lives. The below tips will help you identify the signs which can indicate that a website could be a scam. Common Sense: Too Good To Be True When looking for goods online, a great deal can be very enticing. A Gucci bag or a new iPhone for half the price? Who wouldn’t want to grab such a deal? Scammers know this too and try to take advantage of the fact. If an online deal looks too good to be true, think twice and double-check things. The easiest way to do this is to simply check out the same product at competing websites (that you trust). If the difference in prices is huge, it might be better to double-check the rest of the website. Check Out the Social Media Links Social media is a core part of ecommerce businesses these days and consumers often expect online shops to have a social media presence. Scammers know this and often insert logos of social media sites on their websites. Scratching beneath the surface often reveals this fu

So the worst has come to pass - you realise you parted with your money too fast, and the site you used was a scam - what now? Well first of all, don’t despair!! If you think you have been scammed, the first port of call when having an issue is to simply ask for a refund. This is the first and easiest step to determine whether you are dealing with a genuine company or scammers. Sadly, getting your money back from a scammer is not as simple as just asking.  If you are indeed dealing with scammers, the procedure (and chance) of getting your money back varies depending on the payment method you used. PayPal Debit card/Credit card Bank transfer Wire transfer Google Pay Bitcoin PayPal If you used PayPal, you have a strong chance of getting your money back if you were scammed. On their website, you can file a dispute within 180 calendar days of your purchase. Conditions to file a dispute: The simplest situation is that you ordered from an online store and it has not arrived. In this case this is what PayPal states: "If your order never shows up and the seller can't provide proof of shipment or delivery, you'll get a full refund. It's that simple." The scammer has sent you a completely different item. For example, you ordered a PlayStation 4, but instead received only a Playstation controller.  The condition of the item was misrepresented on the product page. This could be the
